Learn to Skate (ages 4 and up)

• This will be an introductory to skating program
• Emphasis will be placed on personal skill development within a fun-filled environment
• Program will include one on-ice session on Sunday afternoons running from mid-November through February at the Gunnery School in Washington.
• Equipment required: Certified hockey helmet with facemask.  Gloves (winter or hockey), elbow and knee pads recommended. Skate rentals are not available.
• Cost: $130 + $40 USA Hockey registration fee (children born 2003 or later do not pay a portion of the USA Hockey registration fee)
  Gunnery Schedule: Sundays 3:45 p.m. (11/22/09 - 2/21/10)
  

Intro to Hockey (One hour per week at Gunnery School) (ages 4-8)

• This program will combine an introduction to skating and hockey geared to children ages 4-8
• Children will learn to skate while holding a stick in their hands. Passing, puck handling and basic shooting will be covered as well.
• Emphasis will be placed on personal skill development within a fun-filled environment
• Program runs Sundays from mid-November through February at the Gunnery School in Washington. 
• Equipment required: Full hockey equipment
• Formerly known as Learn to Skate Plus Hockey
• Cost: $130 + $40 USA Hockey registration fee (children born 2003 or later do not pay the USA Hockey registration fee)
  Gunnery Schedule: Sundays 3:15 p.m. (11/22/09 - 2/21/10)

• This program will combine an introduction to skating and hockey geared to children ages 4-8

• Program runs Saturday and Sunday mornings from October through February at Canterbury School in New Milford. 
• Equipment required: Full hockey equipment
• Formerly known as Learn to Skate Plus Hockey
• Cost: $160 + $40 USA Hockey registration fee (children born 2003 or later do not pay the USA Hockey registration fee)
  Canterbury Schedule: Saturdays 7:15 a.m. and Sundays 8:00 a.m. (10/24/09 - 2/27/10)
  

Mite Novice (ages 4-8)

• This program will build on both skating and hockey skills
• Emphasis will be placed on personal skill development as well as team concepts and rules within a fun-filled environment
• Games against other neighboring programs will be scheduled during the second half of the season
• Two hours per week (Saturday and Sunday mornings) from November through February.
  Choose from programs run at Canterbury School (New Milford) or the Rumsey School (Washington).
• Cost: $160 + $40 USA Hockey registration fee (children born 2003 or later do not pay a portion of the USA Hockey registration fee)
  Canterbury Schedule: Saturdays 7:15 a.m. and Sundays 8:00 a.m. (10/24/09 - 2/27/10)
  Rumsey Schedule: Saturdays 9:00 a.m. and Sundays 8:30 a.m. (11/14/09 - 2/21/10)
  

Short Season Hockey (ages 9-12)

A short season of hockey!  Two hours per week—Saturday and Sunday mornings from November through February.  Initially, one hour practices will be held each day on the weekend.  As the season progresses, one of the practices each weekend will be replaced with a game against teams from other nearby communities.  All practices will be held at the Gunnery and Rumsey School.  Home games will be held at the Gunnery. Cost: $160 + $40 USA Hockey registration fee (children born 2003 or later do not pay a portion of the USA Hockey registration fee)
Schedule: Saturdays 10:15 a.m. at Rumsey School and Sundays 2:15 p.m. at the Gunnery (11/14/09 - 2/21/10)

Family Skate

Bring your family to the Gunnery for some cool fun! Sunday evenings 4:45 pm to 7:00 pm from November through February.  Sessions consist of 2 hours of skating time with a 15 minute ice resurfacing midway through the session.  This program sponsored by the Town of Washington.
