CANTERBURY SCHOOL
(These protocols are in effect as of September 29, 2021 and are subject to change)
 
  • Masks are required to be worn indoors at all times, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Players must get dressed in locker rooms and not in the lobby areas.
  • If parents/visitors are present for the game, they should remain inside the rink area not in the lobby area.
  • Players, parents or other visitors should not use any other Canterbury School facilities such as the gymnasium or outside athletic fields.

 

THE FREDERICK GUNN SCHOOL

Arriving and Departing the Rink 

  1. Arrival/Departure Time: Please do not arrive more than approximately 30 minutes before your ice time and please depart campus promptly after your ice session. 

  2. Parking Lot: 

    1. Enter the Frederick Gunn School (FGS) campus from the Green Hill Road (Rt. 47) Entrance.   

    2. Do NOT park behind the rink.  This lot is reserved for FGS Employees and you may be towed.

    3. Please obey posted speed limits, FGS students, faculty and children cross here

    4. Please park in the lot by our Field House, but please respect all signage including spots reserved for FGS Faculty and Staff.  

    5. Rink Entrance: Enter and exit main entrance only. Do not use the back door. 

  3. Campus Closed: THE FGS CAMPUS IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. Participants and guests are restricted to the rink and rink parking lot. 

  4. No Warm-Ups: Teams and players should not warm-up as a group outside or inside the rink. 

  5. No Tailgating, Picnics, etc.: No group, team or social gatherings in the parking lot before or after ice sessions. No alcohol allowed. 

 

Rink Rules:

  1. Stay Home if Sick: If a participant (player, coach, official, volunteer) or spectator feels ANY symptom of illness, they must not come to the rink or campus. 

  2. Entry to Rink: 

    1. Participants (other than officials) and spectators may not enter the rink or locker rooms until 30 minutes prior to ice time and should wait at their cars. 

    2. If anyone enters the locker room early, the entire team will immediately lose the right to use the locker room and must dress in the parking lot. 

    3. NO WARM-UPS INSIDE THE RINK.  

    4. Our goal is to reduce the cross over between the school community and rentals.  We have built time into the schedule to avoid conflicts, but this should be enforced by coaches while using the rink.

  3. Masks: In accordance with the CHC Mask/Face Covering Policy (dated 9.1.2021), all participants and spectators must wear a mask or face covering at all times while inside the rink. Please reference the link for additional information regarding approved face coverings for players.

  4. Locker Rooms: Locker rooms are open and will be assigned. Locker rooms should be vacated promptly after an ice session.  

  5. Hockey Bags: Hockey bags may only be brought into the rink if using an assigned locker room and must be kept in the locker room. A player not using an assigned locker room must enter the rink fully dressed except for skates and may not bring in a hockey bag, except for visiting Mite goalies. A rink-side bench will be available to put on skates or the stands may be used (the rubber flooring will protect skates). 

  6. Spectator Limits: The number of spectators per player must be reasonable and may be limited if the rink becomes too crowded or masking or other rink rules are not followed. 

  7. Children: Children, including players and siblings, must be under parental or coach supervision at all times and should not be dropped off and left unattended. No running, stick or ball play inside the rink.
