Girls Hockey Team coming to Danbury for 2010-2011

Attention experienced 15- to 19-year-old girl ice hockey players:
Come join a new recreational team forming at Danbury Ice Arena (DIA).  Team players will be from area high schools as well as freshmen and sophomores from local colleges interested in competitive, but recreational, ice hockey.  This exciting new team will be part of the Connecticut Girls Hockey League (CGHL).

To accommodate the busy lives of team members, DIA has already finalized a once-a-week practice schedule for this new team:  every Wednesday evening from September 15, 2010 to March 2, 2011.

This new team is bound to be highly competitive -- several players were members of a team that won the CGHL Tournament in March 2010.  It is anticipated that 25 to 30 games will be played during the September 2010 to March 2011 season.

Please pass this along to anyone you know who may be interested.

2010-11 Hockey Season
by posted 08/03/2010

NWCYH Families,

Well, it's August and hockey season will be here before you know it!  As always, the summer seems to move quickly but we know all the fun that lies ahead with the 2010-11 hockey season.

For the upcoming season, NWCYH will have 11 Travel Teams:

- 2 Mite Teams
- 2 Squirt Teams
- 2 Pee Wee Teams
- 2 Bantam Teams
- Girls U14 Tier II
- Girls U12
- Midgets

The Midgets start things off with 2 tryout sessions later this month.  Then, all teams start practices the week of Labor Day at the Danbury Ice Arena.  We will soon post specific times on the website.    During the month of September, all teams will practice 1 or 2 times each week.  In the middle of October, Canterbury will open and we will begin the more traditional schedule.  Likewise, The Gunnery will open at the end of October.

Of special note, we are excited to introduce our new jerseys for the upcoming season!  We will share a sneak preview on the website soon.

As always, if you have any questions about the upcoming season, please feel free to contact a board member.

Regards,

NWCYH Board of Directors
